We artists unite in support of the Palestinian cause
with our tool of work and expression: the image

The art project ‘GAZA, the right to live in peace’, calls on artists around the world to denounce the invasion and genocide in the Gaza Strip, widely spread through news agencies, media and social networks. The horror of the images has mobilised the international community, demanding an end to the massacre and destruction. The UN as well as humanitarian organisations have called for a ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza's civilian population.
The approval by the Israeli parliament, by a very large majority, to ban the activities of the UN agency ‘UNRWA’, not only in Gaza, but also in the West Bank and Jerusalem, plus the support of the US, Germany, the UK and other countries for Israel, create the conditions for the consummation of genocide.
The Israeli offensive has had devastating consequences for the Palestinian population: constant orders for mass displacement and heavy bombardment have resulted in more than 47,000 deaths and 112,000 injuries, of which one third are children. The artists, like their compatriots, have suffered the devastating impact of death, persecution and destruction during the Israeli occupation in this latest offensive. Their works, testimonies of identity and resistance, have been disappearing in the rubble of their homes and workshops. In precarious shelters and on the move, they remain determined to recover their human and artistic identity in order to continue their work. Several Palestinian artists from Gaza participate in this project with images of their works, now destroyed, or with sketches made with improvised supports and tools in the rush of displacement and under intense Israeli bombardment.
The recent ceasefire has provided temporary respite for the people of Gaza, allowing many families to return to what is left of their homes. However, this does not mark an end to Israeli aggression or tensions in the region. Trump's statements urging Egypt and Jordan to take in Gazans in order to ‘clear’ the area reflect a disturbing narrative that aligns with the ideals of ethnic cleansing promoted by sectors seeking to consolidate Israeli exclusivity over historically Palestinian lands.
